Call of duty: black ops cold war

Shortly after launching Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, I joined the Tech Design team working on gameplay features as support for the larger Multiplayer team. I eventually transitioned back to engineering as an Associate Gameplay Engineer working almost exclusively as part of the Multiplayer team. My responsibilities did not change during this transition from design to engineering.

I was responsible for implementing the gameplay mechanics for various Lethals, Field Upgrades, and Scorestreaks. Listed below.

Lethals

C4

Semtex

High explosive charge that sticks to any surface. Deadly when stuck to vehicles. Detonate with <key> or by double tapping <key>.

Field Upgrades

SAM Turret

proximity Mine

Launches missiles at enemy air scorestreaks and player-piloted helicopters.

Throwable mine, explodes shortly after an enemy runs or drives over it. Can be avoided by crouching. Destroys any vehicle that runs over it.

Jammer

Assault Pack

Creates an electronic disruption field, disabling enemy Field Upgrades and degrading enemy minimap information.

Supply cache containing ammo that gives bonus score for taking down enemies.

Field Mic

Destroys thrown enemy equipment and launcher missiles within 10 meters.

Deploys a recording device that highlights enemy sounds on your minimap.

VTOL Escort

Sentry turret

Lay waste to enemy infantry and vehicles from the cockpit of a powerful VTOL jet.

RC-XD

Armor Plates

Remote-controlled car strapped with explosives.

Reduces incoming bullet damage. Destroyed after it absorbs too much damage.

Scramble enemy mini-maps and disable hostile Missile Turrets for a short time.

High-Altitude Reconnaissance Plane that shows both enemy position and direction on the mini-map.

COMBAT RECORD/Medals/ScoreEvents

I was responsible for setting up hundreds of various gameplay events (E.g. Double Kill, After-Death Kill, Two Birds One Stone) to trigger:
– Score Events (gifting a player score towards earning their scorestreaks)
– Medals (achievement like awards recognizing that a player did something interesting)
– Combat Record Stats (data about a player’s performance history with all the various weapons, grenades, scorestreaks, vehicles, etc.).

I was solely responsible for the Multiplayer Combat Record, but also did a majority of the score events/medals for the Multiplayer game modes.
